Goal Keepers Needed!

Players and Friends, FHB is actively recruiting for two top-notch keepers to replace players who have moved out-of-state.  If you know a goalie that would be a great fit for the Club, please contact our President, John Grant.  And please act quickly -- our first practice is just two weeks away!

Report: Blue & Yellow Game

Impressive scrimmage today. It was our first full-field scrimmage of the year and we have a lot of new players working together for the first time, so there definitely is room for improvement. But based on what I watched this afternoon, I am confident our teams will be competitive in both the first and second division this season. Well done, all!

Sponsors Needed/Terrific Third Practice

Players, fielding an amateur team is expensive. In order to reduce our individual shares of the Club's various fees, it's very important that we find sponsors for this season. If you know someone who may be willing to fund our Club, please approach them as soon as possible.

Our third day of try-outs/practice was a tremendous success. It may have been one of the best practices we've ever had. Though it was very windy at times, attendance was high and everyone had a great time.

Fox Hollow BSC Try-Outs: First Day

Today's try-outs were a great success. More than thirty men participated, including many new players and all but two of our returning players. Coach Artigas led the group through drills, small-side games and a full-field scrimmage. Everyone had a great time.

Try-Outs/Practice: Arrive Early for this Mandatory Event

Returning and prospective players, try-outs will be conducted for our Division 1 and Division 2 teams on the following date:

Saturday afternoon, March 10 at 1:00 pm. ARRIVE EARLY! Remember, this is NOT an optional event. If you have a substantial reason for not being able to attend, please contact Chris McCullock before noon on Saturday.

This also is considered a practice. By that we mean returning players must participate even if they're not planning to try-out for our Division 1 team.

See you there! It promises to be a great event.

Players: Please Try On 2012 Jerseys

Provided the Adidas Tabela 11 jersey is available when we're ready to place our order, it will be our primary jersey for the 2012 season. It reportedly fits smaller than our navy Regista jerseys. For the next seven days, Team Gear will make two Adidas Tabela 11 jerseys (one "L" and one "XL") available for our players to try on. Please take advantage of this opportunity.

We cannot guarantee every player will receive a jersey that fits perfectly. Our primary purpose in having as many players as possible try them on is to determine how small they run and approximately how many mediums, larges and extra larges we'll need.

FHB Soon Will Conduct Try-Outs for Two Teams

This year, we're fielding our first Division 1 Team. Though a number of our current players will move up with that team, Coach Artigas has indicated he will have several roster spots to fill. Of course, that will mean our Division 2 Team will need many new players. Sometime during the next several weeks, weather permitting, we'll fill positions on both teams through the use of try-outs conducted by Coach Artigas (perhaps with the help of a new assistant coach and one or more of our most talented and experienced players). Anyone who played on last season's Division 2 Team is assured a spot on one of this season's teams.

Try-outs will be by invitation only. By that we mean that only prospective players who have been invited by current members of the Club or Coach Artigas will be allowed to participate. If you happen to know someone who may be interested in joining Fox Hollow BSC, please send me their name, phone number, email address and the position they prefer to play. Anyone who uses this blog to indicate interest in trying-out for the Club should include their cell phone number or email address so that a current team officer can contact them.

Bear in mind that Coach Artigas will be watching for three qualities: fitness, speed and technical ability. Obviously, we'll only accept players who fit our team culture (in other words, we won't add players we don't feel will get along well with our current Club members).

Also, a modest fee will be charged to all try-out participants. Our goal is to keep costs low, however, fielding an amateur team is an expensive undertaking.

Unfortunately, we cannot promise everyone will end up on the same team as their friends and family members. It may happen that some who try-out will not be drafted onto either team, though they will be welcome to join us at practices. Also, the playing time for the Division 1 Team will be determined by Coach Artigas. However, the teams will practice together (as a Club), giving all of our players many opportunities to play with and against one another. Also, Club members may be called upon to play up or down a division on any given week depending upon the needs of the teams.

Please watch for an announcement regarding the date, time and place for try-outs. Good luck!

Chris McCullock, Team President
